The Grudge

I know that this is an old movie, but it is still very good. It is a Japanese horror film about a woman who is killed by her husband. She comes back for revenge and kills him. Then she kills anyone who comes into the house. Sarah Michelle Gellar (from Scooby Doo the Movie and I Know What You Did Last Summer) stars and enters the house as a caretaker afther the other caretaker, Yoko, is consumed by the Grudge. It is a thrilling movie that is sure to make you jump.

Mama

I don't watch rated R movies, so I haven't been able to so a good many of the popular scary movies. However, in January, a PG-13 movie by Guillermo del Toro came out. It's called Mama. It's based off of two young girls who were left alone in the woods for six years. Miraculously, they survived. However, it turns out that someone was helping them survive (Mama). She died a long time back and was searching for her child, when she found Lily and Victoria (the two girls). She has taken care of them, and now that others want to take them in, she is going to do all she can to keep them!!!

Wreck-it Ralph

I really enjoy horror movies. However, I also enjoy Disney movies. Recently, there haven't been any good children's movies. That changed when Wreck-it Ralph came out. It's based on a "villain" of a video game called Fix-it Felix Jr. Ralph is tired of being the bad guy. He wants to earn a medal to prove that he's a hero. However, the other villains Clyde (Pac-Man), Bowser, Zombie, and others, try to convince him that "[We're] bad and that's good. [We'll] never be good and that's not bad. There's no one else [we'd] rather be than [us]." Ralph doesn't believe them and goes on a quest to get a medal. On his adventure, he ends up in Sugar Rush, a racing games based on candy characters. I won't tell you the rest, but I have to say that I really enjoyed the Sugar Rush characters, so I'll put some of them here. Make sure to check out the movie.

Battle Royale Part II

So, I finished Battle Royale. It was pretty good. The ending surprised me as the author tries to trick you and then tricks you again. Unfortunately (SPOILER ALERT), most of my favorite characters die. Mayumi, Megumi, and Takako all succumb to death in one way or another. Mayumi never had a chance as she was killed seconds after she walked out of the school. Megumi unfortunately trusted Mitsuko (sort of a femme fatale) and was killed with a sickle after her location was broadcasted due to her cell phone. Takako actually had a chance to fight back. She beat off some guy who was trying to kill her only to get shot by Mitsuko. Luckily, I liked Mitsuko as well. She lasted until the end when she killed Kayoko (another favorite character), but then she was gunned down by the main killer Kazuo. So basically, Mitsuko killed all of my favorites, and then she was killed as well. Even though my favorites didn't make it, I still really enjoyed the story.

Battle Royale

Hey, everybody. It's me. This is my first blog, and I want to talk about books. The first book is Battle Royale by Koushum Takami. It has recently been translated by Yuji Oniki. Now, I'm kind of excited since this is the first book I have been able to read for fun in a long time (due to school and AP classes). I found out about it from the Hunger Games. It has a similar plot, revolving around forty-two junior high students that have to kill each other or be killed by the communistic government. They were abducted, and their families were informed of what happened. If they resisted, the families were killed as well. The students were drugged and they woke up in a school that was on an island. They were all given a random weapon and were forced to fight to the death. You should check it out.
